Use this interactive demo to learn how to update your default domain name in Webflow.

Quick summary

Changing your Webflow domain name is done through the Publishing tab in your project's Settings. You can set any connected domain as the default domain in just a few clicks from the Webflow Dashboard.

Steps

  1. Navigate to your Webflow Dashboard to get started.
  2. Locate your project thumbnail and click the three dotted icon to open project options.
  3. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
  4. Go to the Publishing tab from the left sidebar menu.
  5. Scroll down to the Production section and locate the domain names listed for your live project.
  6. Click the Make default button next to the domain you want to set as your primary domain, then confirm the change.
  7. Your chosen domain will now display the Default tag, confirming it is your active default domain name.

📌 Why this matters

Being able to quickly change your default domain name in Webflow gives site owners and teams full control over which URL represents their live production site. This is critical during rebrands, domain migrations, or when consolidating multiple custom domains under a single primary address. Webflow's built-in domain management inside Project Settings means no DNS guesswork — you can switch your default domain in seconds without touching your hosting configuration. For agencies managing multiple client sites, this streamlined workflow reduces errors and speeds up go-live processes.
