Use this interactive demo to learn how to swap a linked chart in Google Slides with one from Sheets.

Quick summary

Changing a linked chart in Google Slides means deleting the existing chart and inserting a new one directly from Google Sheets, keeping the spreadsheet link intact. This step-by-step process lets you replace outdated visuals without breaking the live data connection.

Steps

  1. Right-click the linked chart you want to replace.
  2. In the dropdown menu, click Delete.
  3. In the top menu, click Insert.
  4. Hover over Chart in the dropdown menu.
  5. Select From Sheets.
  6. Choose the spreadsheet that contains the new chart.
  7. Click Insert.
  8. Make sure Link to spreadsheet is selected.
  9. Click Import.
  10. Your old linked chart is now replaced with the new chart from Google Sheets.

📌 Why this matters

Replacing a linked chart in Google Slides ensures your presentations always reflect the most current data from Google Sheets without manually rebuilding slides. Maintaining the spreadsheet link means any future updates in Sheets can be synced directly into your presentation with one click. This workflow is essential for teams that rely on live data visualizations in client reports, dashboards, or recurring business reviews. Knowing how to swap linked charts saves time and eliminates the risk of presenting stale or disconnected data.
