Quick summary
Converting a subtask to a task in Jira lets you promote child issues to independent work items without losing any issue data. Use the built-in Move action and Work Type selector to complete the change in seconds.
Steps
- In your Jira space, find and select the subtask you want to convert.
- Click the Actions button in the top-right corner of the issue view.
- Choose Move from the list of available options.
- Click the Work Type menu to open the issue type selector.
- Choose Task from the list of options.
- Click Next to proceed to the confirmation step.
- Review the terms, then click Next to continue.
- Click Confirm to finalise and submit your request.
- The selected subtask is now successfully converted to a task in your Jira project.
