How to Center Text in Notion

Use this interactive demo to learn how to align and center text in your Notion pages.

Quick summary

Notion does not have a native center text button, but you can achieve centered alignment using three workarounds: the Block Equation method, manual spacing, or a Columns layout. Each approach lets you visually center any text block inside a Notion page without third-party tools.

Steps

  1. Select the text you wish to center in Notion and open more options using the dotted menu.
  2. Click Turn into to open additional block-type options.
  3. Select the Block equation option to convert your text into a Math Block, which automatically centers it on the page.
  4. Click on your Block equation to enter edit mode.
  5. Use KaTeX formatting functions such as \Large for large font and ~ for spaces to style your text as needed.
  6. Click Done to finish editing the Block equation.
  7. To use the Spacing method, place your cursor before your text.
  8. Add spaces manually to push your text into the center of the line.
  9. To use the Columns method, navigate to the line where you want to center text.
  10. Use the slash command to search for column blocks (type /column) and select an odd-numbered layout such as 3 columns.
  11. Type your text into the middle column.
  12. Drag and adjust the column borders to align your text to the center.
  13. Your text is now centered using the middle column layout.

📌 Why this matters

Notion does not include a built-in center-alignment option for text, which is a common frustration for users designing structured, visually polished pages. This demo shows three practical workarounds — the Block Equation method using KaTeX, manual spacing, and a Columns layout — so any Notion user can achieve centered text without plugins or paid upgrades. Knowing these techniques helps teams create more professional-looking wikis, project pages, and documents directly inside Notion. It is especially valuable for anyone building public-facing Notion pages or internal hubs where visual formatting and layout quality matter.
