Use this interactive demo to learn how to close multiple Jira tickets at once in bulk.

Quick summary

Bulk closing Jira tickets lets teams update multiple issue statuses simultaneously from the list view, saving time on repetitive manual updates. Using the floating action menu and the Change Status option, you can mark dozens of tickets as Done in just a few clicks.

Steps

  1. In the list view of your Jira space, find the tickets you want to bulk close and tick the checkbox beside each one.
  2. Access the floating menu at the bottom of the screen and click Change Status.
  3. Click the drop-down menu to expand the available status options.
  4. Choose Done from the list of status options.
  5. Click Submit to apply the status change to all selected tickets.
  6. The selected Jira tickets will be bulk closed and marked as Done.

📌 Why this matters

Bulk closing Jira tickets is a critical workflow for agile and software development teams managing large backlogs or sprint clean-ups. Instead of updating each issue one by one, Jira's bulk status change feature lets project managers and developers resolve multiple tickets simultaneously, reducing manual effort and human error. This capability is especially valuable at the end of a sprint or release cycle when dozens of completed tasks need to be marked as Done at once. Mastering bulk ticket management in Jira directly improves team velocity and keeps project boards accurate in real time.
