Quick summary
Screening questions in SurveyMonkey let you filter respondents by criteria like age, gender, or income before they complete your survey. Using skip logic, you can automatically route unqualified respondents to an exit page, ensuring you collect data only from your target audience.
Steps
- Navigate to your desired survey and click the ellipsis icon next to the survey title.
- From the drop-down menu, select 'Edit survey'.
- In the 'Design Survey' tab, identify the screening criteria you want to filter for, such as gender, age, income, experience, or specific preferences.
- Choose the appropriate question type based on your screening needs.
- Include demographic questions such as gender, age group, and race.
- Click on a question and select 'Logic' from the options to set up routing rules.
- Set up skip logic rules — for example, if a respondent selects '17 or younger', direct them to an exit page.
- Use close-ended questions to collect quantifiable data that can be easily analyzed in a chart or graph.
- Click the 'Preview survey' button to test your survey and confirm that skip logic is correctly routing respondents.
