Use this interactive demo to learn how to ask Grok questions in private mode.

‍

‍

It is very easy to ask Grok some questions in private mode. Here’s a short tutorial on how to do it:

‍

  1. On Grok's main dashboard, go to the top-right corner and click 'Private'.
  2. After that, head over to the chat box and type your question.
  3. Simply click the 'Attachment' button if you wish to add some relevant media files to your prompt.
  4. Likewise, tap the 'Model Selector' menu if you don't want to use the default option.
  5. Once done, click the 'Submit' button to proceed.
  6. Finally, Grok will provide an instant response to your question. Since the conversation is set to private mode, it will not appear in your chat history.

📌 Why this matters

Private mode lets you explore sensitive topics, test controversial ideas, or ask embarrassing questions without cluttering your permanent chat history. Beyond basic privacy, this creates a judgment-free sandbox where you can brainstorm freely, ask "stupid" questions while learning, or work through personal dilemmas.

Your regular chat history becomes a curated record of meaningful conversations, while private sessions handle the messy, experimental thinking that leads to breakthroughs. You can be more honest and vulnerable when you know the conversation disappears.
