How To Add Table in Microsoft Forms

Use this interactive demo to learn how to add a table in Microsoft Forms.

‍

‍

In Microsoft Forms, you cannot insert a static, data-only table as you would in Word or Excel. Instead, you use the Likert Scale tool. This creates a "question table" that is perfect for SaaS scenarios, such as comparing feature satisfaction or service quality across different categories. Follow these steps to build your interactive table:

‍

  1. On your Microsoft 365 main dashboard, click Apps to see all available tools.
  2. Click on Forms to open Microsoft Forms.
  3. Click New Form to create one, or open the specific form where you need to organize data.
  4. Click the Untitled form area to enter a quiz title and specific instructions.
  5. Click Quick start with and select the Likert question type from the extended menu.
  6. Enter your main instruction in the question box.
  7. List your categories or features in the "Statement" rows on the left side.
  8. Type your scale or options in the "Option" columns across the top.
  9. Once you have finished adding your table, click Style to customize your form's appearance, then click Preview.‍
  10. Your table now appears as a clean, responsive grid for your participants.

📌 Why this matters

You can transform scattered feedback collection into structured, comparable data that reveals patterns across multiple dimensions. While basic surveys capture individual responses, table-formatted questions let you systematically evaluate how different features, services, or experiences stack up against each other using consistent criteria.

This creates a matrix of insights that's particularly powerful for product development, customer satisfaction tracking, and competitive analysis. The real advantage lies in generating data that translates directly into actionable comparisons and priority rankings.
