Adding story points in Jira lets agile teams estimate effort directly on backlog tickets using the Story Point Estimate field. This four-step process requires no extra configuration — just a few clicks from your scrum board's More Actions menu.
Steps
- In your Jira scrum board, find the ticket you want to edit and click the More Actions button next to it.
- Hover your mouse cursor over the Story Point Estimate option in the dropdown menu.
- Enter your preferred story point value into the input field, or adjust it using the spin buttons next to it.
- Click the Check button to apply the changes and save the story points to the ticket.
- The story points are now successfully added to the selected Jira ticket in your scrum board.
