📌 Why this matters
Adding your spouse's W-2 allows you to file a joint return, which typically results in lower taxes and higher refunds compared to filing separately. Joint filing also unlocks valuable tax credits like the Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credit that have higher income thresholds for married couples. Beyond the immediate tax savings, having both W-2s in one return simplifies your financial record-keeping and ensures you're taking advantage of the most beneficial filing status for your household's total income situation.
