Cursor rules are .mdc files that give the AI specific instructions on how to handle your code. Using the chat interface is the fastest way to generate these without manual formatting.
- Open the Cursor desktop application and your project folder.
- Press Cmd + Shift + P (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + P (Windows/Linux) to open the Command Palette, then type "New Cursor Rule" and select it.
- Write your instructions in Markdown format below the frontmatter section.
- Click on preview, and you're all set!
