Quick summary
Adding a task to the backlog in Jira lets teams capture and organize work items before sprint planning begins. Using the board view, you can create a task in seconds by entering a summary, selecting a work type, and assigning key details.
Steps
- In the board view of your Jira space, navigate to the Backlog column and click 'Create'.
- Type the task summary into the provided input field.
- Click the 'Work Type' menu to expand work type options.
- Select 'Task' from the work type list.
- Fill in other key details such as Due Date and Assignee.
- Click 'Create' to submit and save the task.
- The new task will now appear in your Jira backlog.
