Use this interactive demo to learn how to insert a clickable link into a Jira ticket comment.

Quick summary

Adding a hyperlink to a Jira comment lets your team reference external resources directly inside a ticket. Select text in the comment editor, click the Link button, paste your URL, and confirm to embed a clickable link instantly.

Steps

  1. Select a Jira ticket you want to edit from your project board.
  2. Under the Comments tab, click 'Add a Comment' to open the comment editor.
  3. Type your comment into the provided input field.
  4. Highlight the words in your comment where you want to anchor the link.
  5. Go to the menu bar and click the 'Link' button.
  6. Paste the URL into the provided input field in the link dialog.
  7. Press 'Enter' or 'Return' to apply and save the link.
  8. The hyperlink is now added to your Jira comment on the selected ticket.

📌 Why this matters

Adding links to Jira comments keeps critical resources — such as documentation, pull requests, or external references — directly accessible within the ticket workflow. This reduces context-switching and helps development teams collaborate more efficiently inside Jira. Embedding hyperlinks in comments ensures that stakeholders always have the right information at their fingertips without leaving the project management tool. For teams relying on Jira for sprint tracking and issue resolution, this feature accelerates decision-making and improves ticket clarity.
