Quick summary
This tutorial shows you how to connect Jira to CircleCI builds using Zapier by creating a no-code automated workflow. When a CircleCI build event fires, Zapier automatically creates or updates a Jira issue — eliminating manual status tracking across your CI/CD pipeline.
Steps
- Log in to Zapier, click "Create", and select "Zaps" to begin building your automation.
- Click "Trigger" to start configuring the trigger step of your Zap.
- Search for CircleCI in the app search field and select it as your trigger app.
- Choose a trigger event from the CircleCI options (for example, a completed build).
- Connect your CircleCI account and select the specific project to track.
- Add Jira Software Cloud as the Action App in the next step of your Zap.
- Select an action event for Jira, such as "Create Issue" or "Update Issue".
- Connect your Jira account to authorize Zapier access.
- Map CircleCI build details — such as build status, branch name, and commit message — to the corresponding Jira issue fields.
- Run a test to verify that CircleCI events trigger Jira workflows correctly.
- Click "Publish" to activate your Zap and go live with the automation.
