Quick summary
Boolean search in LinkedIn Sales Navigator lets you combine operators like AND, OR, and NOT with quoted phrases and parentheses to precisely filter leads by title, function, or role. Mastering these operators inside the Lead Filters field dramatically improves prospecting accuracy and reduces irrelevant results.
Steps
- Click on the Lead Filters option in LinkedIn Sales Navigator to open the search filter panel.
- Use quotes around a specific phrase to find exact-match results — for example, enter "Supply Chain Director" to target that precise title.
- Review the lead results returned for your quoted keyword, such as leads matching the exact title "Supply Chain Director".
- Use the NOT operator directly before a keyword to exclude it from results — for example, enter Chief Executive Officer NOT Sales to remove sales-related profiles.
- Review the updated lead list to confirm excluded keywords are filtered out, such as leads matching "Chief Executive Officer NOT Sales".
- Use the AND operator to require both keywords in results — for example, enter Sales AND Marketing specialist to find profiles that include both terms.
- Review the filtered lead list to confirm both keywords are present, such as leads appearing in both Sales and Marketing roles.
- Use parentheses to group multiple OR conditions — for example, enter (VP OR Head) AND (Sales OR Marketing) to search across several seniority levels and functions simultaneously.
- Review the final lead results to see all matching profiles, such as VP Sales, Head of Sales, VP Marketing, and Head of Marketing.
