How to Ungroup in Miro

Use this interactive demo to learn how to ungroup objects in Miro.

To ungroup objects in Miro, follow these steps:

Open your Miro board.
Click the grouped object to select it.
Click 'Unlock all'.
After ungrouping, each object becomes individually selectable and editable.

📌 Why this matters

Ungrouping lets you edit individual elements within a cluster without affecting the rest. You might need to resize just one sticky note in a grouped brainstorm section, or change the color of a single shape in a complex diagram.

Beyond simple editing, ungrouping becomes essential when collaborating with teammates who have different permissions or when you want to animate specific objects during presentations. Groups that made sense during initial creation often need to be broken apart as your board evolves and requires more granular control over each component.
