How to Skew Objects in Figma

Updated on:
May 12, 2026
By:
Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to apply a skew effect to any object in Figma.

Quick summary

Figma does not have a native skew tool, but you can skew objects in Figma by using the Actions menu to search for and apply the Skew plugin, then setting custom horizontal and vertical angles. This step-by-step walkthrough covers the exact process from selecting your object to seeing the skew effect applied.

Steps

  1. In your Figma design canvas, find and select the object or frame you want to skew.
  2. Go to the bottom section of your Figma canvas and click Actions.
  3. Search for "Skew" and select it from the suggested results.
  4. Specify your preferred Horizontal and Vertical angle by dragging their respective sliders to your desired level.
  5. Once complete, the skew effect will be applied to the selected object or frame.

📌 Why this matters

Figma lacks a built-in skew transformation, making it difficult for designers to create angled or perspective-shifted visuals natively. The skew workflow via the Actions menu unlocks a powerful design capability that supports more dynamic layouts, italicized shapes, and motion-inspired UI elements. Understanding how to skew objects in Figma saves designers time searching for workarounds and ensures consistent, precise angle control across frames. This makes it an essential technique for UI designers, brand designers, and anyone building visually expressive interfaces in Figma.
