Use this interactive demo to learn how to add an expiration date to any PandaDoc document.

Quick summary

PandaDoc lets you set document expiration dates directly from the document Settings menu, ensuring recipients can no longer access or sign a document after a specified deadline. This feature helps teams automate document lifecycle management and enforce time-sensitive contract or proposal deadlines without manual follow-up.

Steps

  1. Open the document you want to set an expiration date for.
  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the document.
  3. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
  4. Find the Expiration option and click on it.
  5. Select the date when the document should expire.
  6. Click Apply to save the expiration setting.
  7. When sending the document, recipients will see the expiration notice, and your documents will be automatically managed based on deadlines.

📌 Why this matters

Document expiration dates in PandaDoc give sales and legal teams precise control over how long a proposal, contract, or agreement remains valid and accessible. By automatically locking documents after a set deadline, PandaDoc eliminates the risk of recipients signing outdated terms or pricing. This feature reduces manual follow-up, accelerates deal velocity, and ensures compliance with time-sensitive business agreements. Teams using PandaDoc's expiration controls can enforce urgency without chasing prospects, making the entire document workflow faster and more reliable.
