Use this interactive demo to learn how to save the Alteryx output to Excel.

‍

It is very easy to save the Alteryx output to Excel. Here’s a short tutorial on how to do it in simple steps:

  1. Inside Alteryx's workflow designer, head over to the left-side panel and find 'Output Data'. Drag this tool onto the canvas and connect it to the Input Data tool or other sources.
  2. Following that, go to the right-hand panel and click 'Select Output Location'.
  3. Enter a unique file name into the provided input field.
  4. Subsequently, click the 'Format' menu next to it.
  5. Choose 'XLSX' from the list of options.
  6. Once done, click 'Next' to proceed.
  7. Configure other related export settings based on your preference.
  8. Once done, click 'Confirm' to apply the changes.
  9. Finally, click 'Run Job' to process your Alteryx workflow and save its output as an Excel file.

📌 Why this matters

Exporting to Excel lets you share processed data with stakeholders who rely on spreadsheets for analysis, reporting, or presentations. Excel remains the universal language of business data, making your workflows accessible to colleagues who don't use data processing platforms. Beyond simple sharing, this creates a bridge between automated data pipelines and manual business processes. Teams can incorporate your cleaned, transformed datasets directly into existing Excel-based workflows, dashboards, and reports without requiring additional technical skills or software licenses.
