Use this interactive demo to learn how to rotate an image in PowerPoint.

‍

It is very easy to rotate an image in PowerPoint. Here’s a short tutorial on how to do it in simple steps:

  1. Inside the slide canvas of your PowerPoint presentation, find and select the image you want to edit.
  2. Following that, hover your mouse cursor over the 'Picture' menu and then click the drop-down arrow next to 'Crop'.
  3. Place your mouse cursor over the 'Rotate' option.
  4. Subsequently, select 'Rotate Right 90°' or 'Rotate Left 90°'. Use these two options to rotate the image accordingly.
  5. Finally, the selected image in your PowerPoint presentation will be rotated based on your input.

📌 Why this matters

Rotating images lets you correct photos taken at awkward angles or repurpose content shot in different orientations for your slides. Beyond basic fixes, this becomes crucial when you're working with mobile photos, scanned documents, or stock images that don't match your slide layout. You can transform portrait images for landscape presentations or adjust graphics to create visual flow and hierarchy. Rather than hunting for new images or editing in separate software, you maintain design momentum and ensure visual consistency across your entire presentation.
