Use this interactive demo to learn how to disable text autofit in PowerPoint slides.

‍

It is very easy to remove Autofit in PowerPoint. Here’s a short guide on how to do it in simple steps:

  1. Inside the slide canvas of your PowerPoint presentation, find and select the text box you want to edit.
  2. After that, go to the top menu bar and click 'Shape Format'.
  3. Tap the 'Format Pane' option to proceed.
  4. Subsequently, go to the 'Text Options' tab.
  5. Click 'Textbox' afterwards.
  6. Next, click 'Do Not Autofit' to apply your desired changes.
  7. Finally, Autofit will be removed from your PowerPoint settings.

📌 Why this matters

Removing autofit gives you precise control over text positioning and slide layout consistency. When autofit is active, PowerPoint automatically shrinks text to fit within boxes, which can create unpredictable font sizes across your presentation. This becomes particularly valuable when you're working with branded templates that require specific text sizes, or when you need multiple slides to maintain identical formatting. Professional presentations often depend on this consistency, and disabling autofit ensures your carefully planned typography and spacing remain exactly as intended, rather than being automatically adjusted.
