Quick summary
This tutorial shows how to organize dates by week in Excel using a Pivot Table and the Group feature. By setting the grouping interval to 7 days, you can instantly summarize daily data into weekly totals for faster analysis.
Steps
- Open the file you intend to edit.
- Click on Insert and select Pivot Table.
- Enter or select the cells containing your data in the Table/Range section.
- In the Location section, specify where you want the Pivot Table to appear, then click OK.
- In the Rows section, drag the Date field to organize data by date; in the Values section, drag the Sales field and set it to calculate the Sum for each date.
- Right-click on any date in the generated Pivot Table and select Group from the context menu.
- Select Days and change the number of days to 7.
- Your data will now be grouped and displayed by week.
