Use this interactive demo to learn how to adjust the positioning of slide numbers in your PowerPoint presentations.

‍

It is very easy to move the slide numbers in PowerPoint. Here’s a short guide on how to do it in simple steps:

  1. Inside the slide canvas of your PowerPoint presentation, go to the top menu bar and click 'View'.
  2. After that, click 'Slide Master' to proceed.
  3. Find and select the slide number you want to move. While the Move cursor is visible, start dragging it to your desired position.
  4. Once done, click 'Close Master' under the View menu.
  5. Finally, the selected slide number in your PowerPoint presentation will be moved accordingly.

📌 Why this matters

Moving slide numbers lets you create consistent branding and visual hierarchy across your presentation. When slide numbers appear in awkward positions—like overlapping with your logo or sitting too close to important content—relocating them maintains professional polish. Your presentation template becomes more versatile since you can position numbers where they complement rather than compete with your design elements. This customization also ensures slide numbers remain visible and functional regardless of your content layout, making navigation easier for your audience during lengthy presentations.
