Use this interactive demo to move the footer in your PowerPoint presentation.

‍

It is very easy to move the footer in PowerPoint. Here’s a short tutorial on how to do it in simple steps:

  1. Inside the slide canvas of your PowerPoint presentation, go to the top menu bar and click 'View'.
  2. Following that, choose 'Slide Master' from the given options.
  3. Subsequently, find and select the footer you want to move.
  4. Hold the selection, then drag it to your desired position while the Move icon is visible.
  5. Once done, head back to the ribbon and click 'Close Master'.
  6. Finally, the footer in your PowerPoint presentation will be moved accordingly.

📌 Why this matters

Moving your footer gives you precise control over slide layout and visual hierarchy. You can position it to avoid overlapping with charts, images, or text blocks that extend to slide edges. Beyond basic positioning, this technique lets you create consistent branding across different slide templates while maintaining professional spacing. When you're working with custom layouts or inherited presentations with awkward footer placement, repositioning ensures your content flows naturally and your audience focuses on what matters most rather than fighting cluttered design elements.
