How To Merge Contacts In Pipedrive

Explore this interactive demo to learn how to consolidate duplicate contacts in Pipedrive.

Follow these steps to merge contacts in Pipedrive:

  1. Go to the three dotted icon in the left sidebar menu for More options.
  2. If you do not see the option to Merge duplicates, click on any visible item from the list.
  3. Selecting any other item will bring you to the Tools and apps menu, locate the Merge duplicates option under it and click.
  4. This option will display a list of all possible duplicates and allow you to review them. To verify, click on Preview.
  5. Confirm if you wish to merge then click on Merge.
  6. Confirm your choice by clicking on Merge once more.
  7. You can then open their detailed view to see the changes.
  8. Also note that from any detailed view, you can also manually merge contacts. To do so, go to the three dotted icon for more options on the top right (sometimes also located at the bottom).
  9. Select Merge.
  10. Choose a contact you wish to merge with manually.
  11. Choose which action to perform to resolve conflicts.
  12. Proceed to Preview and Merge same as previously.

Duplicate contacts fragment your customer relationships across multiple records, making it impossible to see the complete picture of interactions, deals, and communication history. When you merge duplicates, you consolidate all touchpoints into a single comprehensive profile.

This prevents embarrassing situations like sending conflicting messages or missing important context during sales calls. More importantly, clean contact data improves your reporting accuracy and pipeline forecasting, since revenue and activities are no longer split across multiple entries for the same person.
