How to Manage Content Ideas with Buffer’s Drafts Feature

Use this interactive demo to learn how to manage your content ideas with Buffer's Drafts feature.

‍

‍

The simplest way to efficiently manage content ideas with Buffer’s drafts feature is to categorize them using tags. Here’s a short guide on how to do it:

‍

  1. Inside Buffer's Create Post panel, finalize the draft of your social media post and then click the 'Add Tags' menu to categorize it accordingly.
  2. Tick the checkbox beside the tag that best describes your drafted post.
  3. After that, tap 'Save As Draft' to proceed.
  4. You can easily manage all your content ideas in one place. To proceed, select 'Drafts' from the choices available under the Publish tab.
  5. Subsequently, tap the 'Tags' menu and select the specific category that stores the drafted post you wish to review or edit.
  6. The drafted posts under the selected tag will be displayed. From here on, you can now easily manage your content ideas
  7. If you want to line up the drafted post for publication, tap 'Add to Queue'.
  8. Meanwhile, click the 'Pencil' icon instead if you wish to edit it further before posting.
  9. Lastly, tap the 'More Actions' button to access other available options. For instance, you may opt to Publish the draft right away, duplicate it, or delete it.
  10. Going forward, just repeat the same series of steps to efficiently manage your content ideas using Buffer's drafts features.

📌 Why this matters

Organizing your content ideas with tags transforms scattered inspiration into a searchable content system. You can instantly locate that perfect holiday post idea in December or find all your educational content when planning a themed week.

This approach turns your drafts folder from a digital junk drawer into a strategic content bank. When inspiration strikes at random moments, you'll capture and categorize ideas immediately, knowing you can retrieve them exactly when needed rather than scrolling through dozens of unorganized drafts.
