Making subtasks in Microsoft Project is simple—it’s all about indentation. Here’s the clean, step-by-step way:
- Let's start by opening Microsoft Project and creating a few tasks for your project.
- Now, add durations to your tasks to help with timeline planning.
- Click on the task you want to convert into a subtask. Remember, this task should be positioned directly below its intended parent task.
- On the 'Task tab', locate and click the 'Indent Task' button (it looks like a right-facing arrow).
- The selected task is now a subtask, and the task above automatically becomes its summary task. You'll notice the task is indented and the summary task displays a collapse/expand control.
