Use this interactive demo to learn how to restrict a Notion page to private access only.

Quick summary

Making a Notion page private moves it out of shared workspaces so only you can access it. You can restrict page visibility in seconds by dragging it into the Private section of the sidebar.

Steps

  1. Expand the left sidebar menu and locate the page you wish to make private.
  2. Hold and drag the page from the Shared section into the Private section.
  3. Notion will display a confirmation prompt warning that moving the page will remove access for all other people.
  4. Click Move to private to confirm the action.
  5. Your page is now listed under the Private section and only you have access to it.

📌 Why this matters

Controlling who can view your content is essential for maintaining focus and confidentiality inside collaborative workspaces. Notion's private page feature lets individual users instantly restrict access to sensitive notes, drafts, or personal plans without needing admin intervention. This is especially valuable for teams who share a workspace but need clear boundaries between personal and shared content. Understanding how to make a Notion page private helps users protect their work and manage information visibility with confidence.
