How to Integrate Qlik with MySQL

Updated on:

Use this interactive demo to learn how to integrate Qlik with MySQL.

This tutorial shows how to connect Qlik Sense to a MySQL database using the Data Load Editor to query and load data for analysis.

Notes:

  • You need valid MySQL credentials, including host, port, database name, username, and password.
  • The MySQL ODBC driver or Qlik's native MySQL connector must be installed and configured on your machine or server.
  1. Log in and open your Qlik Sense app, and click Data load editor from the top menu.
  2. Click Create new connection in the Data connections panel on the right.
  3. Select MySQL from the list of available database connectors.
  4. Enter your MySQL connection details, including host address, port, database name, username, and password, then click Test connection to verify.
  5. Click Create to store the connection. You can now access the saved connection, browse the available tables, and select the ones you want to load into your app.

📌 Why this matters

MySQL is one of the most widely used relational databases across web applications, internal tools, and business platforms. Connecting it directly to Qlik Sense eliminates the need to export data manually and lets you build dashboards that reflect live or near-live database records. This is especially valuable for teams managing transactional data, customer records, or operational metrics stored in MySQL. A direct connection keeps your analysis accurate and reduces the risk of working with outdated exports.
