Use this interactive demo to learn how to integrate Qlik with Google BigQuery.

This tutorial shows how to connect Qlik Sense to Google BigQuery using the native BigQuery connector to load data warehouse data for analysis.

Notes:

  • Qlik Sense has a native Google BigQuery connector available in the Data Connections panel.
  • You need a Google Cloud project with BigQuery enabled and a service account with BigQuery Data Viewer and Job User roles, along with its JSON key file.
  1. Log in and open your Qlik Sense app, and click Data load editor from the top menu.
  2. Click Create new connection in the Data connection panel on the right.
  3. Select Google BigQuery from the list of available connectors.
  4. Click Authenticate to complete the OAuth flow and grant Qlik access to your Google BigQuery data.
  5. Copy the authentication code provided by Google and paste it into the Qlik connector dialog, then click Verify.
  6. Click Create to store the connection. You can now access the saved connection, browse the available tables, and select the ones you want to load into your app.

📌 Why this matters

Google BigQuery is a serverless data warehouse that handles large-scale analytics workloads for organizations running on Google Cloud. Connecting it directly to Qlik Sense lets data and analytics teams build dashboards on top of warehouse-scale data without exporting or transforming it first. This is especially useful for companies that consolidate event data, product telemetry, or marketing data in BigQuery and need flexible visualization on top of it. A direct BigQuery connection in Qlik shortens the path from raw data to actionable insight and keeps your dashboards current as the underlying tables are updated.
