Use this interactive demo to learn how to integrate Qlik with Excel.

This tutorial shows how to load an Excel file into Qlik Sense as a data source for reporting and analysis.

Note:

Supported formats include .xlsx and .xls. If your Excel file has multiple sheets, Qlik Sense lets you select which sheet to load.

  1. Login and open your Qlik Sense app, and click Data manager from the top menu.
  2. Click Add data and select File and other sources from the list of source types.
  3. Browse your local folders and select the Excel file you want to load.
  4. Select the sheet you want to use from the sheet selector in the preview panel.
  5. Confirm that Qlik Sense has correctly identified the header row and field names in the preview table.
  6. Click Next to load the file into your data model.
  7. Click Load data to run the script and make the data available across your app.

📌 Why this matters

Excel remains the most widely used tool for business data across finance, operations, and sales teams. Loading Excel files into Qlik Sense lets you build interactive dashboards on top of data that would otherwise stay locked in static spreadsheets. This is especially valuable when stakeholders maintain their own trackers or when data hasn't yet been moved to a central database. Connecting Excel directly saves time and keeps your analysis aligned with the source your team already trusts.
