How to Integrate NotebookLM with Slack

Updated on:
May 13, 2026
By:
Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to send Slack messages into NotebookLM as a data source.

Quick summary

Integrating NotebookLM with Slack lets you copy messages directly from a Slack channel and insert them as a source in a NotebookLM notebook. This workflow takes under a minute and turns your team's Slack conversations into queryable, AI-powered research material.

Steps

  1. In your Slack channel, find the message you want to use, highlight its content, and press COMMAND+C (Mac) or CONTROL+C (Windows) to copy it.
  2. Switch to NotebookLM and click Create New to start a new notebook.
  3. Locate the Paste Text section and click Copied Text to open the text input area.
  4. Paste the copied Slack message into the provided input field.
  5. Click Insert to confirm and add the text as a source.
  6. Your notebook is now integrated with Slack — the pasted message is saved as a data source ready for AI-powered analysis.

📌 Why this matters

Integrating NotebookLM with Slack allows teams to transform real-time Slack conversations into structured, AI-searchable knowledge sources without leaving their existing workflow. By copying Slack messages directly into NotebookLM as data sources, users can ask questions, generate summaries, and surface insights from their team's communications instantly. This integration bridges the gap between conversational messaging and deep research, making it especially valuable for knowledge workers, researchers, and project teams who rely on Slack as a primary communication hub. It removes the need for manual note-taking or context-switching, letting AI do the heavy lifting on information retrieval.
