Use this interactive demo to learn how to connect Asana tasks to Google Sheets using Zapier.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows you how to integrate Asana with Google Sheets using a Zapier Zap, so that Asana task events automatically sync data into a Google Sheets spreadsheet. The setup requires connecting both accounts via OAuth and configuring a trigger in Asana and an action in Google Sheets.

Steps

  1. Log in to Zapier, click "Create," and then select "Zaps" to get started.
  2. Click "Trigger" to proceed to the trigger setup.
  3. Search for "Asana" to set it as the Trigger App.
  4. Choose an event under Asana to define what will trigger the Zap.
  5. Click "Allow" to grant Zapier permission to access your Asana account.
  6. Choose the account you want to connect to.
  7. Select "Allow" to confirm the account connection.
  8. After signing in, click "Continue" to proceed.
  9. Choose a value under "Workspace / Organization" then click "Continue" to proceed.
  10. Click "Test trigger" to verify the Asana trigger is working correctly.
  11. Choose a Project then click "Continue with selected record" to confirm the test data.
  12. Search and select "Google Sheets" as the action app.
  13. Choose an event under Google Sheets to define what action to perform.
  14. Log in to your Google Sheets account and hit "Continue."
  15. Complete and customize the required fields to map Asana data to Google Sheets.
  16. Click "Test step" to verify the Google Sheets action works correctly.
  17. After testing, click "Publish" to complete the integration and activate the Zap.

📌 Why this matters

Integrating Asana with Google Sheets via Zapier eliminates manual data entry by automatically syncing task updates from Asana into a structured spreadsheet. This Asana-to-Google-Sheets automation is essential for teams that need real-time project reporting, data analysis, or shared visibility across tools without switching platforms. By using a no-code Zapier workflow, teams can trigger row creation or updates in Google Sheets whenever an Asana task event occurs, saving hours of repetitive work each week. It is an ideal solution for project managers and operations teams looking to centralize task data and improve cross-functional collaboration.
