Use this interactive demo to learn how to get outlined letters in PowerPoint.

‍

It is very easy to get outlined letters in PowerPoint. Here’s a short tutorial on how to do it in simple steps:

  1. Inside the slide canvas of your PowerPoint presentation, find and select the text you want to edit.
  2. After that, go to the Home menu and click 'Shape Format'.
  3. Subsequently, click the 'Text Outline' option.
  4. Select the text outline color you wish to use.
  5. Additionally, you may also specify your preferred Weight and Dashes.
  6. Finally, the selected text in your PowerPoint presentation will be outlined accordingly.

📌 Why this matters

Outlined text creates visual separation between your content and busy slide backgrounds, making presentations readable even when projected in bright rooms or viewed on various devices. You can layer text over images, gradients, or complex graphics without losing legibility. Text outlines also add professional polish that distinguishes your slides from basic formatting. This technique becomes essential when presenting to large audiences where visibility varies across the room, or when sharing slides digitally where screen brightness and resolution differ significantly between viewers.
