How to Exclude a Particular Survey in SurveyMonkey for Analysis

Updated on:
May 12, 2026
By:
Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to filter and exclude a specific survey collector from your analysis.

Quick summary

To exclude a particular survey from analysis in SurveyMonkey, navigate to Analyze Results, use the Rules filter, and select a specific collector to include or exclude from your data. This lets you focus your survey analysis on only the responses that matter most.

Steps

  1. Open the survey and click on it from your SurveyMonkey dashboard.
  2. Go to the Analyze Results section of your survey.
  3. Select Rules from the toolbar.
  4. Click Filter to open the filtering options.
  5. In the Filter section, add a filter based on collector type by clicking Filter by Collector.
  6. Choose between your collectors — select the specific collector you want to include or exclude from analysis.
  7. Click Apply to activate your filter.
  8. Your analysis will now reflect only the selected responses, letting you focus on the data that matters most.

📌 Why this matters

Being able to exclude a particular survey collector from analysis in SurveyMonkey gives researchers and analysts precise control over their data. When surveys are distributed through multiple collectors — such as email and web links — combining all responses can skew results; filtering by collector ensures clean, accurate reporting. This feature is especially valuable for teams running A/B tests, segmenting audience groups, or troubleshooting response quality across different distribution channels. Mastering the Rules and Filter options in SurveyMonkey's Analyze Results section is essential for anyone who needs trustworthy, targeted survey insights.
