How to Edit a Live Survey on SurveyMonkey

Use this interactive demo to learn how to modify and update a live survey without taking it offline.

Quick summary

SurveyMonkey allows you to edit a live survey at any time by accessing the Design Survey tab, where you can update questions, themes, and settings. Changes are saved automatically and reflected immediately for all future respondents without interrupting the survey collection.


Steps

  1. On your dashboard, find the survey you want to edit in the My Surveys section, using the search bar if needed.
  2. Click on the survey title to open it.
  3. Navigate to the Design Survey tab to access options for editing questions, layout, and settings.
  4. Add new questions or delete existing ones as needed.
  5. Modify themes or adjust survey settings to match your requirements.
  6. Add a page break to organize your survey into multiple sections.
  7. Modify question text or update answer options within any existing question.
  8. Click Preview survey to review all changes before publishing.
  9. Click Continue to save your edits — the survey stays live and all updates are immediately visible to future respondents.
