This tutorial shows how to add a required email address question to a SurveyMonkey survey using the Build tab. Enabling email validation ensures every respondent submits a properly formatted email before the survey can proceed.
Steps
- Navigate to your desired survey and click the ellipsis icon next to the survey title.
- From the drop-down menu, select Edit survey.
- In the Design Survey tab, select Build from the left side menu.
- From the Build options, click the Email address button.
- Label the question to describe what you are asking respondents to provide.
- Click on Options for the question to open its settings.
- Under Require a Valid Email Address, toggle this option ON to enforce valid email format.
- Enter a test response to verify the survey does not proceed without a valid email address.
- Click Save to save the question and its settings.
- Click Preview survey to confirm the email field is working correctly and marked as required.
- Your survey now ensures every respondent provides a valid email address before proceeding, enabling follow-up contact when needed.
