How to Create a Wiki Page in SharePoint

Updated on:
April 6, 2026

Use this interactive demo to learn how to create a new wiki page in your SharePoint environment.

‍

‍

It is very easy to create a Wiki page in SharePoint. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to do it:

‍

  1. Inside the main dashboard of your SharePoint site, go to the left-side panel and click 'Pages'.
  2. Tap 'New' to proceed.
  3. Subsequently, select 'Wiki Page' from the list of options.
  4. Enter a unique page name into the provided input field and then click 'Create'.
  5. After that, tap the text box and type the content of your Wiki page.
  6. Next, go to the top navigation bar and use the available options to customize the format of your Wiki content.
  7. Once done, tap 'Save' at the top-right corner.
  8. After completing these steps, your Wiki page will be created and saved.

📌 Why this matters

Creating wiki pages transforms your team's scattered knowledge into a searchable, centralized resource where everyone can contribute and find answers quickly. You eliminate the endless email chains asking "Where's that document?" or "How do we do this again?" Beyond simple documentation, wiki pages become living repositories that grow with your organization.

Unlike static documents, they encourage collaborative editing and real-time updates, meaning your institutional knowledge stays current and accessible even as team members change roles or leave.
