This demo walks you through how to configure a board in Jira, covering everything from JQL filters and column mapping to card colors, quick filters, and working days. Jira board configuration lets project teams tailor their agile workflow so the right issues appear in the right columns with the right visual context.
Steps
- Navigate to the board you want to configure and click on it.
- Click on the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner of the board.
- Select 'Configure board' from the dropdown menu.
- Review the JQL filter (Jira Query Language) that controls which issues appear on the board, and click 'Edit Filter Query' to modify it.
- Set the board location — choose whether the board lives within a project or stands on its own.
- In the Columns section, map your workflow statuses to the corresponding board columns.
- Select how you want to organize issues within the board (e.g., by swimlane or grouping).
- Configure Quick Filters to create one-click buttons that filter displayed issues by specific criteria.
- In the Card layout section, customize what information is shown on each issue card.
- Navigate to Card colors and set rules to color cards based on priority, issue type, or a custom JQL query.
- Go to Working days and define the specific working days applicable to your team.
- Navigate to the Timeline section to configure it and manage all types of issues.
