- Open Cisco Packet Tracer.
- In the device selection box at the bottom of the window, add one router, one switch, and one PC to the workspace.
- In the lower-left toolbar, click Connections, then select Copper Straight-Through. Connect the PC to the switch, then connect the switch to the router using available Ethernet ports.
- Click the PC in the workspace, then open the Desktop tab.
- Click IP Configuration, select Static, then enter 192.168.1.2 as the IP Address, 255.255.255.0 as the Subnet Mask, and 192.168.1.1 as the Default Gateway.
- Click the router in the workspace, then open the Config tab.
- In the left panel under INTERFACE, select the router port connected to the switch.
- Turn Port Status to On, then enter 192.168.1.1 as the IP Address and 255.255.255.0 as the Subnet Mask.
- To verify the configuration, click the PC, open the Desktop tab, then click Command Prompt and run ping 192.168.1.1.
