Quick summary
Changing an issue type in Jira requires using the Move workflow, which lets you reassign a ticket to a new type such as Story, Bug, or Task. For service projects, the ticket may need to be moved to a different project that supports the target issue type before the conversion can be completed.
Steps
- Open the Jira ticket from your board.
- Click the three dots menu in the top right corner and select Move.
- If the ticket is in a services project, move it to a different project that has the target issue type configured, such as a Scrum board.
- Choose the new issue type you want — for example, Story.
- Click Next to proceed.
- Update the Status to which the converted issue should be set.
- Click Confirm to finish the issue type change.
