Bulk updating labels in Jira lets you apply, replace, or remove labels across multiple issues simultaneously using the Bulk Change feature. Instead of editing each issue one by one, you can use JQL or filters to target the right issues and update their labels in a single operation.
Steps
- Click the search bar on your Jira home screen to begin finding issues.
- Select 'View all issues' to open the full issues list.
- Use filters or JQL (Jira Query Language) to find the issues you want to update.
- Click the search icon to run your query and retrieve matching issues.
- After running the search, review the list of issues returned in the results.
- Click the ellipsis icon and select Bulk Change (All N issues), where N is the total number of issues in your search results.
- On the Bulk Operation screen, tick the checkboxes next to the issues you want to update, or click 'Select All' to include every issue.
- Click 'Next' to proceed to the operation selection screen.
- Choose the 'Edit Issues' option and click 'Next'.
- On the edit details page, check the 'Change Labels' field to enable label editing.
- In the Labels field, choose to add new labels, replace all labels, or remove existing labels.
- Click the dropdown arrow to select a new label from the available options.
- After setting the labels, click 'Next' to proceed to the confirmation step.
- Click 'Confirm' to apply the bulk label update across all selected issues.
- Wait for the confirmation message indicating the operation is complete, then click 'Done'.
