Use this interactive demo to learn how to assign a Jira issue to multiple team members at once.

In Jira, you can assign a task to multiple users by mentioning each team member in the issue's comment section and saving the comment to trigger notifications. This workaround lets teams collaborate on a single issue without being limited to Jira's default single-assignee field.


Steps

  1. Select the issue you want to assign tasks to from your Jira board.
  2. Navigate to the comment section of the issue and click the empty comment field.
  3. Mention each user you want to assign by typing their name with the @ mention in the comment field to assign the task to multiple users.
  4. Confirm that all intended assignees have been mentioned successfully in the comment.
  5. Click 'Save' to post the comment — each mentioned user will receive an email notification.
