How to Add Drill-Down in Power BI

Drill-down in Power BI lets you explore hierarchical data — such as date hierarchies — by clicking into individual visuals to reveal deeper levels of detail. Enabling this feature takes just a few clicks inside the Visualizations pane and unlocks more granular, interactive reporting.

Steps

1. Navigate to the desired report where you want to add a drill-down.
2. Go to the Data pane and enable the Date Hierarchy.
3. Click on the Visualizations pane.
4. Choose a visual that supports drill-down.
5. Click the visual and, in the top-right corner, select the Drill Down option indicated by the forked arrow down symbol.
6. Drill-down is now activated — your Power BI visual is ready for hierarchical exploration.
