How Do I See Old Sprints in Jira

Use this interactive demo to learn how to view past sprints in Jira using the Burnup report.

Quick summary

To view old sprints in Jira, enable the Reports feature via Project settings and open the Burnup report to review past sprint history and event logs. This guide walks you through every step to access completed sprint data directly from your Jira project sidebar.

Steps

  1. Check whether Reports appears in the left sidebar; if it is missing, navigate to Project settings to enable it.
  2. Inside Project settings, select Features from the left pane.
  3. Toggle the Reports feature ON to activate it.
  4. Confirm that Reports is now visible in the left sidebar of your project.
  5. Go to Reports and select the Burnup report.
  6. Review the past sprints displayed within the Burnup report.
  7. Access the Event logs for any past sprint to see the associated issues and activity.

📌 Why this matters

Jira's completed sprint history is not immediately visible by default, which can block agile teams from conducting retrospectives, auditing delivery, or tracking velocity over time. Enabling the Reports feature and using the Burnup report gives teams instant access to past sprint data, issue event logs, and progress trends — all within their existing Jira project. This capability is essential for engineering and product teams that need to review what was committed, completed, or carried over in previous sprints without leaving Jira. Having a clear, step-by-step path to old sprint records reduces confusion and helps teams make data-driven decisions for future sprint planning.
