This demo shows how to build a Zapier automation that triggers a Linear status change whenever a new GitHub pull request is created. By connecting GitHub and Linear through Zapier, engineering teams can keep project management in sync with code activity without any manual updates.
Steps
- From your Zapier dashboard, select Zap to start building a new automation.
- Click on the Trigger field to begin selecting your trigger event.
- Search and select GitHub as your trigger app.
- Click New Pull Request as the trigger event.
- Connect your GitHub account to authorize Zapier access.
- Select the repository you want to monitor and click Continue.
- Click Test trigger to verify that Zapier can fetch pull request data from your repo.
- Search and select Linear as the action app.
- Select an action event to define what Linear should do when the trigger fires.
- Connect your Linear account to authorize the integration.
- Configure the action details — such as the issue status to update — and click Continue.
- Click Test step to confirm the Linear action runs correctly.
- Once the test is successful, click Publish to activate your Zap.
