Use this interactive demo to learn how to create, write, and organize notes in Notion.

Quick summary

Notion lets you take notes on a flexible new page, enrich them using Notion AI, and keep everything organized inside folders in the sidebar. This step-by-step walkthrough covers creating a page, writing content, using AI assistance, and sorting notes for easy retrieval.

Steps

  1. Click the (+) icon in the sidebar to create a new page and start your notes on a fresh canvas.
  2. Add a descriptive title to your page so you can easily find your notes later.
  3. Begin writing your notes — Notion pages are a free canvas where you can capture anything.
  4. Use the slash command /ai to open Notion AI tools, such as Ask AI to write, and let AI do some of the work for you.
  5. Type a prompt to instruct Notion AI on what content to generate or complete.
  6. Click Done to confirm and insert the AI-generated content into your page.
  7. Drag and drop your page into a folder from the sidebar menu to keep your notes organized.
  8. Expand the folder in the sidebar to view and access all notes stored inside it.
  9. You can now create, write, sort, and find notes in Notion with confidence.

📌 Why this matters

Notion is one of the most popular all-in-one productivity tools for individuals and teams who need a flexible system to capture and organize information. Taking notes in Notion means every piece of information lives in a structured, searchable workspace rather than scattered across apps. With built-in Notion AI, users can draft content faster using simple prompts, reducing the time spent on manual writing. Folder-based organization in the sidebar ensures notes are always easy to find, making Notion a powerful alternative to traditional note-taking apps like Evernote or OneNote.
