How To Set Up Goals in Google Analytics
Here is a short step-by-step tutorial on how to set up goals in Google Analytics:
- Go to the Admin section and Find Events under the Data Display or Property column.
- Click on Create event.
- Make sure to choose the relevant Data Stream and hit Create.
- Create a Custom event name.
- Provide the Matching conditions. You can set Value as URL of the page you want to mark as conversion (e.g. Thank you page) or just the page location will do.
- Make sure the Copy parameters box is checked and hit Create.
- It's important to not that even though you’ve just created a custom event, it will not appear as an existing event until it is triggered.
Note:
- Data Streams: In Google Analytics 4, a Data stream is a setup that connects your website or app to your GA account. It allows collection and organization of platform-specific data and enables tracking user interactions.
- Custom event is Triggered only when a user visits a specific page or performs a specific action. (e.g user visits the Thank you page after making the purchase or fill the lead gen form and reaches the Thank you page).
