How to Hide your Contact Info on LinkedIn

Try this interactive demo to learn how to hide your contact info on LinkedIn.
  1. Click your profile in the top menu of your dashboard.
  2. Choose and select 'Settings & Privacy'.
  3. Under Visibility settings, select the options ‘Profile discovery using email’ and ‘Profile discovery using phone number’.
  4. Modify each setting from public to private mode (e.g., everyone to only me).
  5. Also, click ‘Who can see or download your email’.
  6. Change its setting to a more private mode and turn off the option that allows your email to be included when someone downloads your LinkedIn profile.

📌 Why this matters

Hiding your contact details prevents unwanted connection requests from recruiters, salespeople, and strangers who find your profile through reverse email or phone lookups. You maintain control over who can reach you while still networking with people you actually want to connect with. Beyond privacy, this creates a filtering effect that makes your eventual connections more meaningful. When someone does connect with you, you know they found you through your professional content or mutual contacts rather than scraping your information from other sources.
