Google Analytics 4 does not display bounce rate by default, but you can add it as a custom metric to the Pages and Screens report. This step-by-step walkthrough shows how to surface bounce rate data alongside engagement metrics for any landing page.
Steps
- Go to Reports in the left pane of Google Analytics.
- Navigate to Engagement then select Pages and Screens.
- Click the Edit button to customize the report.
- Click on Metrics to open the metrics panel.
- Hit Add Metric to add a new metric to the report.
- Find and select Bounce Rate from the available metrics list.
- Add the additional Engagement metrics shown in the panel.
- Hit Apply to save your metric changes to the report.
- View the Bounce Rate column now visible across your pages.
- Note that Engagement Rate can also serve as an alternative indicator of bounce behavior.
